Spicy romance bookclub

Explore your desires, Ignite your libido, and feel free to ask me anything

why read spicy romance with me?

Romance novels changed my life. For real.

In 2022, my partner and I completely changed our relationship, especially our sex life, for the better. We were feeling connected emotionally and felt totally attracted to each other, but we weren’t having sex. We were 17 years into our relationship, and years of my pain and chronic illnesses had affected how we touched each other and how often. We were sexually shut down, not initiating, confused about how we got there but still in love.

One day I joined a spicy romance bookclub online, it launched my libido through the roof, and the books I was reading prompted me to sit my partner down to finally talk about what we were (and weren’t) doing.

Thankfully out of the conversation we agreed a lot needed to change, and we got out all the things we weren’t saying. It was so freeing, and really exciting to be able to create this new version of us around who we are now, what we want, and encouraging each other’s curiosity along the way. We called this our reset and still reference it like that, and it may never have happened without me reading some very spicy books!

There was more to it of course, some bits get to stay between us, but I can tell you that this absolutely changed our relationship in more ways than I can count. It’s been 3 years at the time I’m writing this, and I don’t even recognize the people we were before. We are more connected. We share more intimacy. We laugh more. We don’t take sex so seriously, but prioritize pleasure and connection. It’s been massively life-changing, and really, really FUN!

Why am I telling you this? Because it got me to this job! When our relationship changed after our reset, I realized something I’d love to do is help other couples and individuals find pleasure in their bodies and with their partners, especially those with chronic pain, illness and disabilities like myself. Within the year I was looking to make a giant career change, as I’d been a business owner for 16 years doing something quite different. I searched for months and found a Sex Coaching program that had pretty much everything I was looking for. I talked to 3 schools seriously, spoke to some other sex coaches, took a few workshops, and jumped in! Now, I’m a Board Certified Clinical Sexologist, Sex Educator, and Sex Coach, and I feel really honoured that people chose to work with me and share the things they do.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

I want to read romance with others who are looking to ignite their libido, learn new things, and love the escape and fantasy that can come with reading romance! We will choose a romance or erotica novel every month, and during the conversation at the end of it we can discuss:

  • What intrigued you?

  • What felt uncomfortable, if anything?

  • Did reading romance create enough excitement to bring it into the bedroom? (solo or with a partner/partners)

  • What do you want to try, but with expert advice and guidance?

  • What surprised you about yourself while reading?

  • How do you bring up something you read that you’d like to try with a partner?

  • Toy recommendations for one-handed reading

  • and more!

I will provide sex education, coaching, and resources during our discussion. I think having science-backed, pleasure-forward education and guidance makes a huge difference in how we view our desires, our shame, and our fears when it comes to sex and intimacy. Plus, talking about books and intimacy can be a great way to connect with other like-minded folks who want similar things, and to feel less alone. I love the idea of building community around books and sex… two of my favourite things! My bookclubs are always free to join, with no pressure to hire me for coaching or other services, though anyone is welcome to contact me if they want to go deeper or get more personal on any particular topic.

You have the opportunity to ask questions during the read and in the final chat at the end of the month about what we read that you might want to try, or to understand better. Romance can be eye-opening! It also can skip some really important stuff to get you to the action in the book faster, so we can make sure anything you want to try is well-informed and rooted in reality!

Explore new themes and get curious reading outside your norm. Books will be diversely selected and may have LGBTQ+ characters/content, as well as representation for chronically ill and disabled folks in some selections. Black and BIPOC voices always included. Reading broadly is beautiful! Every book will have delicious spice and stories that explore ALL the tropes!

Spicy romance allows you to fantasize and safely play within scenarios you’d never do in reality. Fantasies are FUN and highly encouraged!

Romance and erotica can give you language for things you’ve thought or felt but couldn’t put into words. Let the experts do it for you! All types of books are inspiring, and I’ve personally found a lot of inspiration in romance books!
